Peter acts as Miles’ mentor and gets to exist firmly in a space where the movies (interested only in the drama) and the comics (interested only in sadism) have always refused to let him be. He’s got a healthy, functional relationship with Mary Jane Watson, a burgeoning reporter for the Daily Bugle, and although he’s struggling to maintain a job, he’s relatively well adjusted… for now. Kraven is one of the main bad guys in Spider-Man 2, other than Venom, of course.
Far too much of what you’re doing feels like padding from the early days of open world games—there’s more inspiration here from Crackdown than there is from GTA V. PC Gamer’s got your back

Like the first two games, the true star of Spider-Man 2 is its story. It finally gives us the chance to jump between playing as either Peter or Miles as the two work together to protect New York City from Kraven, a fierce warrior looking to transform the city into his hunting ground. Their personal lives don’t fare any less stressful–Peter and Miles are both stuck, struggling to figure out what’s next for them.
These crystals will spawn smaller Sandmen that players have to defeat in order to collect the crystal. These reveal hidden memories of Marko before the events of his attack on the city. They eventually take him down, but as Flint returns to his human form, he admits he’s not safe. Sandman is one of the most intimidating villains in the Spider-Man universe, but even he has enemies of his own. He turns into a giant Sandman and embarks on a rampage through New York.
Lots of enhancements that make Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 feel and play differently are thanks to the system’s impressive tech. However, there’s now a third strand shared by both characters, which is something entirely new to the series. With it you can build on the combat and traversal skills that you would want in either Spider-Man, creating a more rounded – and appropriately – symbiotic duo. Now you can build up height and speed with web-swinging before quickly switching to Web Wings to glide in areas like Queens, where there are few tall buildings.
Overall, there’s slightly less emphasis on stealth encounters this time than in either Spider-Man or Miles Morales. As someone who found the stealth action of the previous games a little simplistic and routine, this new, louder approach is welcome. Coming from two strong parents who have each dedicated their lives towards defending the vulnerable in their own ways, Miles keeps civic duty as something of a family tradition. With so much having occurred to the character across the previous games, here’s a quick overview of Miles’ background and role ahead of his return in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Be sure to check out Miles Morales’ comic book history as well to see how the two versions of the character are both different and similar. After finishing the story, however, players could swap back to wearing the Black suit, but these powers were locked to the white look of the Anti-Venom suit.
Just when you think you’ve seen the last of Venom, the symbiote menace comes along and possesses MJ, turning her into Scream. You need to save MJ – who is now the host of the alien symbiote – and fight Scream as Peter Parker, which will lead you to your next confrontation with Venom and set up the final few bosses in the game. When Lizard is on the loose in NYC, Miles and Peter must chase it down and keep up the pursuit. Eventually, another phase will begin where you’re webbed onto him and have to dodge away from falling debris as you tail him up the side of a building. After af88 , you’ll face Lizard in his natural element – the sewers – where you’ll have to deplete his HP by wailing on him with your Spidey powers. Marvel’s Spider-Man – The Art of the Game is packed with hundreds of exclusive full-color images of Spider-Man, his suit and equipment, the allies he relies on like MJ Watson and Aunt May, and the deadly villains he battles.
Spider-sense Tingling…
The main story has that mix of slick but very linear action setpieces and quiet character moments common to almost all the modern PlayStation first-party titles—outside of those, the city is scattered with optional side missions and things to find. I can’t say that I noticed one dropped frame in my dozens of hours of playing. This allows Spider-Man 2 to shine in its most jaw-dropping moments – of which the main story offers many – as explosive action, sparkling electrical effects, and fittingly slimy symbiote gloop fill the screen. The main story took me around 18 hours to complete before I hit 100%, and the subsequent platinum trophy popped up to congratulate my efforts after 27 in total. Despite whatever loftier ambitions the story may have, this is still unapologetically an old-school approach to open-world game design, and nowhere is this displayed more clearly than in its optional quests.
Fight Crime With Deeper Combat
With the debut of the SteamDeck and an increased focus on PC gaming, there’s certainly been a positive trend of titles moving to PC in a more efficient capacity. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is among those highly anticipated games that still need that adaptation, especially since Insomniac fans have already likely played its predecessors in this format. Whilst the Marvel’s Spider-Man games focus primarily on the, you guessed it, Spider-Man corner of the universe, there are certainly other heroes existing in this world even if they don’t make a physical appearance. And there we have it, the 10 best video games to have come out of the House of Ideas. Let us know what you think of our rankings in the comments, as well as your thoughts on the best Marvel games. X-Men Arcade doesn’t even take a full hour to complete, but its classic beat ‘em up design is polished to a mirror shine, so much so it’s impossible not to enjoy it with a group of friends.
It was nominated for numerous end-of-year accolades, and won in six categories at the 27th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, including Action Game of the Year. The game sold over 2.5 million units in 24 hours and over five million in 11 days, becoming PlayStation’s fastest selling first-party title. When Spider-Man 2 is eventually released on PC, we’ll have plenty of guides to help you get through Insomniac’s adventure, including a complete walkthrough and a guide to all of Spider-Man 2’s suits. Spider-Man 2 picks up the story after Miles Morales while introducing Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and other familiar villains. While making New York City his jungle throughout the main campaign of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Kraven hunts all of Spider-Man’s previous villains, capturing them and then fighting them one-on-one to find someone who can overpower the hunter.
